Little Ladybugz is an amazing shop on Etsy where you'll find handmade toys, ethnic dolls and other items devoted to supporting the adoptive parent and child on and beyond "Gotcha-day"--The day that you finally get to meet/take home your new child! Sherry is the owner/creator and also a stay-at-home mom to 7, yes that's 7 children! She adopted her daughter, Carrie almost 3 years ago. Sherry is hoping to adopt again so that Carrie won't be the only family member who is adopted and racially different. See the photo below, taken in China, of Sherry with her daughter - what a cutie pie! :)
Sherry would like to offer my readers 10% off discount through September 21st! Check out her favorite shop items: The Cloth Ball and Block Set with drawstring bag and the Ethnic Multicultural Cloth Knot Doll. So adorable and made with love!
When did you start making toys?
I started making toys when my oldest daughter, now 16, was born. I really learned how to sew by experimenting on her! My mom taught me the basics in high school, but I learned how to do it on my own once I had a baby.
What inspired Little Ladybugz?
A few years ago, I was trying to raise money for orphans in China. Unfortunately, it didn't do very well. Now, I'm trying to earn money to help make that second adoption more possible. Etsy has been a good forum for me because customers are already there. The trick is making things that other people like and would purchase. I am so excited and flattered every time somebody buys something of mine! I've really only been selling on etsy for 2 months, and it has gone better than I dared to imagine.
Sherry sent Emma a cloth block and ball to play with in the Oh Cherry Fabric. Her particular set was made with Minkee for an alternate (and so soft!) texture. You can see an example, here. They have a jingle bell inside which makes for a soft gentle sound. She even has her own little taggies on the ball with the Little Ladybugz logo - so professional. These make a wonderful gift, perfect for baby showers, too!
