New Release from Five for Fighting, Slice - {Review}

You've probably heard one of the more popular, and my favorite songs by Five for Fighting: 100 Years or Superman.  John Ondrasik/Five for Fighting has just released their newest album, Slice. The album is a collection of 11 tracks with story-telling lyrics.

Says Ondrasik, “Every round I try to write the best songs I can, and perhaps step out of the box a bit. To me, records are about offering my worldview while providing sentiments to which people may attach themselves or escape into. Slice is whereI’ve come from, where I am, and a few scraps I’ve picked up in between. All in a slice of time.

Slice, Track Listing
1. Slice
2. Note To The Unknown Soldier
3. Tuesday
4. Chances
5. This Dance
6. Above The Timberline
7. Transfer
8. Hope
9. Story Of Your Life
10. Love Can't Change The Weather
11. Augie Nieto

Of all of the tracks my favorites are: Story of Your Life, Slice, Chances, This Dance and Above the Timberline. I'm a big fan Billy Joel's piano heavy music, and there are many similarities between the two artists; especially with songs This Dance and Notes to an Unknown Soldier.  I'm sure that John Ondrasik must draw inspiration from Billy Joel's music. My least favorite track is Hope.  It's probably the intro that does it, very hokey with a hidey-ho flair to it.  I was also not to keen on Transfer, Tuesday or Love Can't Change the Weather.  There are a few good tracks but I feel the album could have been much better.  I probably would not have purchased the entire thing. If you're a big Five for Fighting fan, I'm sure you'll feel that it's worth adding to your collection.  Don't just take my word for it: Go ahead and listen for yourself.  You can listen to the tracks and purchase the album right here if you so choose.
