For any of you who were following my live blogging during the show today, my battery died about 15 minutes before the end of the show. I apologize for that. I had plugged in my laptop last night but did not secure the plug properly so no charging was done overnight.
It was an...interesting show. If you caught Martha Stewart today (I understand it airs tomorrow in some areas), you may have caught the quite disinterested Alexis Stewart making her mother uncomfortable--or at least trying to. NBC reporter Brian Williams was supposed to be there today but is covering the tragic news story in Haiti. So I suppose that Alexis and her radio co-host friend Jennifer Hutt were the fill-ins, but I am only assuming. Jennifer Hutt was very funny and seemed genuine, but Alexis came off as a snob and very aggressively answered mama Stewart's questions and/or tried to make her mother look foolish. In the end, she made herself look that way. We learned that Alexis does not follow blogs, she doesn't keep up with her own because she "has a life", and that she's a disrespectful brat, among other things that I can't even recall right now because I'm over tired.
It was pretty neat being in the front row. In one of the photos I stuck my boot forward to show you just how close I was to Martha. I enjoyed the excitement of the show, meeting other bloggers and friends, but I couldn't help but feel as though us bloggers were being used. The blogging show didn't really deal too much with blogging. For MS to call it a "Blogging Show", "all about blogging", you'd expect all of the topics to pertain to blogging, right? Rather, MS just wanted us to all blog about the show and promote it from all platforms. Everyone was a little disappointed that we did not receive any good swag, we all hoped for a neat electronic gadget. I guess no sponsors stepped up. The cookbook is nice, but not what most people expected!

After we excited the studio, we ran into Martha's audience warm-up guy (in the absence of his formal title, we'll call him that), Joey Kola. He was super nice and allowed us to accost him for a photo.
We all had pad thai on the brain after that cooking segment, so my bloggy friends Never Trust a Woman with Three Names, Queen Mother Blog, Thrifty Green Frugal Mom and I all went to Spice - a Thai restaurant in Chelsea. I took a photo of my Pad Thai :)
Looked like you had fun!
ReplyDeleteI watched the show and thought the same thing about Alexis. It was like it was a hassle for her to be there. And I also caught that line about "having a life."
Wow how fun. the show airs tomorrow so i'll check it out!
ReplyDeleteI really wish I had been able to chat! It does kinda sound like you all were used. Weird!
ReplyDeleteI'm curious about that bratty girl. If the show airs today here, I'm going to watch!
Ahhhh!!! I didn't know you were there, either! You had AWESOME seats...front & center. We were to the right of you, also seated on the floor, in the second row. Didn't you LOVE her shoes!
ReplyDeleteWe were the first 4 in line & Joey was coming into work yesterday morning & said "Good morning, ladies." I got a huge smile and said, "Can I get my picture with you?" He was soooo nice!
What a neat opportunity... I am so happy for you!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
