Zero Water - Review

We have well water at our house, so we don't have to pay for our water. It's regularly tested to ensure that it's safe for drinking, but still we buy bottled water. I hate to spend the extra cash on something we already get for free, and I feel guilty over the waste we produce with all of the plastic containers left when we're done drinking. Our town recycles, but it still takes energy to recycle our bottles, cans and plastics. We switched to using a water pitcher a little over a year ago, but ever since the baby came along we were just more comfortable using the bottled water just to be safe. What we didn't realize is that even bottled water can contain contaminants and taste terrible, so we're giving filtered water another try.

The typical water pitchers have a time that tells you when to replace the filter. The ZeroWater pitcher is different. ZeroWater water filters utilize a patented 5 stage Ion Exchange system that removes 100% of detectable dissolved solids and provides more complete filtration than conventional carbon water filters. ZeroWater is the only filtered water that meets the FDA definition for purified bottled water, as per testing the company had done through an independent laboratory.

The ZeroWater pitcher comes with a TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) meter. The TDS is a laboratory-calibrated water tester which reads the amount of dissolved substances in parts per million in the water we drink. When the meter reads zero, your water is safe for drinking. The company recently designed the pitcher, and there is no longer a separate compartment for the TDS meter, so you simply take out your meter and test and when needed. If your water reads anything other than zero, you need a new filter.

I'm quite impressed with the clean taste of the water and found it much better tasting than the bottled waters we were drinking. My favorite feature is the push-button dispenser at the base of the pitcher. I find it much easier to bring my glass to the fridge than taking the pitcher out and bringing it over to my glass. Here's to clean drinking water - Cheers!

No compensation was received for this review post. I received the Zero Water Pitcher and filter to try and I offered my honest opinion.
