Shushybye Book & CD - Review + Giveaway

The Land of Shushybye is home to Snoozles, Dozie, Zeez, Snort, Wheez, Conductor McCloud and The Shushybye King who lovingly rules over the sleepy land.  Together they work on boxing up dreams for children who have made their dream wishes for the evening.  All you have to do is wish on a star and the Shushies will make it happen.

We recently watched a Shushybye show on Comcast on demand.  It was a lot of fun and combined upbeat music with cute characters with a nice bed-time story.  I had no idea that the show existed until I poked around on the Shushybye website. The show is a nice way to get the children settled and ready for bed, as part of their nightime ritual. 

Shushybye Sleepover Surprise tells the story of Leo and Leona, who have a sleepover at Grandma's house.  Grandma reminds the children that if they don't go to bed soon, they'll miss their dreams.  So just before bedtime, they confess to Grandma that their dream wishes are to visit their favorite pals in The Land of Shushybye.  The message in this book is that you don't need a reason to be nice to your friends.  The book includes a CD that you can read and sing along to, and another special touch - the book covers glow in the dark!  I won't give it all away, but the story is cute and the book is illustrated nicely.

The Shushybyes have teamed up with the Shushies to delight children with live performances, too.  The Shushybye band did not sound like what I had expected on the Close Your Eyes CD; I thought their music would make me into a Dozie shushy, but no - the music is lively, and even fun for adults to listen to.  I heard a few famous influences in their music, one being an Elvis-inspired tune.  Emma danced along in her usually back and forth fashion to all 11 tracks.  She is a music lover like her mama!
