FroliCat™ Bolt: Effortless Feline Entertainment

frolicat When my husband and I adopted our kittens, we sought out every possible way to entertain them.  In other words, we spoiled them rotten.  They were our first born babies, these furry little creatures.  Winston and Spencer weren't impressed by too many feline games sold in pet stores, but they sure loved the ten-dollar handheld laser toy.  I haven’t met a cat who wasn’t intrigued by chasing that mysterious red light.

It was tiring that laser-toy game.  For us.  Having to hold down the laser button while moving the light around was painful (literally – the button left a permanent indentation on my thumb!), and this game got old after awhile.  We pulled it out every now and again, but the battery life was extremely short and after buying new button batteries a few times, the little laser was stuffed neatly into a junk drawer and we moved on.

bolt-img Now that we have a human child to take care of, these poor cats don’t get nearly as much attention, let alone play time.  Thanks to FroliCat, they no longer have to rely on us humans to have a jolly good laser-chasin’ time.  This neat toy when placed on a level surface (floor or table), will shine a bright red laser beam for your pets to chase around the room.  My cats loved it!

When on automatic mode, it will move in random patterns to keep your cats interested and on their toes (err…pads).  The mirror is moveable so that you can adjust the laser’s aim.  You can set this to run on a timer and it will automatically shut off after 15 minutes.  It was a lot of fun for me to watch the cats enjoy this toy while I sat enjoyed my ice cream!

020 There were two issues I did have with the automatic features.  For one, the cats will just sit there at times while the laser shines in their eyes.  You shouldn’t shine laser beams into any person or animal’s eyes.  When I saw this happening or about to happen, I quickly moved the Bolt or adjusted the mirror.  Also, the random pattern was sometimes a little too random and the cats had no clue where the light went.

I like using this on manual mode as it’s more comfortable than our old laser pointer.  However, when you haven’t a free hand to spare, the automatic feature sure is helpful.  The Bolt sells for $19.95 and can be purchased on the FroliCat website.  Check out their cute videos!

No compensation was received for this post, but I did receive the product discussed free of charge in order to facilitate my review.  All of the opinions above are 100% my own.
