Giveaway Enterers: I'd love your opinion.

Since I switched over the name of my blog and made changes to my template, I'm unable to number comments.  No tutorial will work for me for some odd reason. It can make your head spin trying to count the comments on giveaways to select the winning number.  Especially on the more popular prizes!

Temporarily, I am using a different format to collect the giveaway entries.  Instead of the usual comment on post entries I'm using a form.  Once my new blog design is in place in a few weeks, I will have numbered comments again thanks to my expert designer.

But I wanted to ask, which format do you prefer?  I can stay with the form or go back to commenting on the giveaway post for entries.  Which is easier for you?

  1. I think the forms are easier & quicker. But, I don't know how much work it is on your end.

If you ask for a separate form for each method of entry, it would be similar to having numbered comments on a post. But, if you combine all the entries on one form, it seems like it would create a lot of work for you to number all the entries.

    Just my thoughts!

  2. I prefer comment-based entries. I already mentioned it on Twitter, but you can't catch cheaters on forms the way you can with comments (in Wordpress). I've had so many people try to enter my giveaways multiple times with different email addresses that I wouldn't feel like I could run a fair contest if I couldn't monitor the IP addresses. Since you're using Blogger, there is no way to do that, so a form is just as good, I guess. I'd really recommend a switch to Wordpress at some point in the future. I am, otherwise, completely useless to you. Sorry!

  3. I like comments much better. I cringe when I see a form with extra entries. Forms are only quicker when you don't have extra entries to deal with. With comments, you can stop commenting at any time, and start again when you have more time to enter extra entries.

    Thanks for asking!

  6. I like the forms much better. I think it takes much less time for me to enter and I can read more posts, blogs etc in that time I gained!

  8. I have to admit that I'm surprised that so many people like the forms. Not that I enter that all too many giveaways anymore, but back when I did, if I got to one with a form there was probably a 95% chance that I wouldn't enter it. If I can't tell if there are 10 entries or 1000 entries, it's not worth it to me to guess.

Can't wait to see your new design when it's finished!

  9. I like forms only because it's super easy to submit - especially when the form contains ALL the entry ways at once so you don't have to continuously submit. :)

  10. I like comments better for 2 reasons. First of all I like to know how many entries there are. Second sometimes I forget if I've entered something, especially if it is something there are a lot of giveaways for. Right now there are a bunch of giveaways for balloonatik dvds for example. So I might remember entering a giveaway for that, but not be sure it it was on your blog or another. With comments I can search for my name and see if I've entered or not.

  11. I like the comments so I can see how many there are. Plus, I would think forms would be tougher to work with on selecting a winner, but heck, what do I know?

  12. Thank you for asking - I like the form because it forces people to visit the sponsor, not just rephrase what someone else posted. But I've also come upon promotions that I have no idea if I've already entered. Is it possible for the form to check email addresses and let people know they have already submitted?
Bottom line, it has to be the most convenient system for you.

  13. I like forms because they are faster, but overall I prefer comments. Like another person commented, I can quickly do a search to see if I've entered a particular giveaway before, and I can also see how many other people entered.

  14. while I do like knowing the amount of comments, I feel more strongly in favor of the form system. it is soooo much faster!

  15. I prefer the form system since it is much easier for me. But whatever works for you.

  16. I prefer the forms for the reasons everyone else has stated--they're quick and easy. It seems that giveaway entries are getting more and more complicated (leave a comment on a nongiveaway post, enter one or all of the other ongoing giveaways, email 5 people, etc...) I'm ready for easy!

  17. I like the comments better, its much easier to make sure your comment went through and if you are entering more than one giveaway, it helps looking and making sure you didn't post the wrong numbers to specific giveawys. But either way is fine.

  18. Whatever works best for you, Ill follow you either way ♥
