Digiscrapping.net - Review & Giveaway

One of the many things that I love about the blogosphere is meeting interesting people and forging new friendships. While looking around for birthday and Christmas ideas for Emma, I discovered a great post by Heather Manning on the shopping she'd done for her daughter. So impressed, I just had to leave a comment! We got to talking, and I discovered that she also has an online store called Digiscrapping.net. I'd surmised that this must stand for digital scrapbooking, but I just had to inquire. You never can be too sure! (Hey, there are no stupid questions, alright? :)

Heather offered to let me give digiscrapping a go and provided me with a generous gift certificate to her store. As I browsed the selection on her site, I became overwhelmed at the creativity I found there. From actual images to realistic digitally-drawn designs, layer masks, "papers", and so much more, this is a dream for an ex-graphic designer like me! A gorgeous creative library at my fingertips, without the high price tag that normally goes along with traditional scrapbooking. Not to mention the mess!

I played around with the various goodies I downloaded and created an Easter card using last year's photo of Emma. I'm having trouble with one of the file formats, but I hope to work out those kinks soon with Heather's help. The sample below is something I created in under 15 minutes. It's that easy. I worked using Photoshop, but there are programs you can download for free, like GIMP.

No more will I be ordering generic, seasonal photocards. Digital scrapbooking is ideal for making cards, custom photo books, personalized shirts, and too many other ideas that I couldn't possibly list here. I'm so excited! Heather warned me that this could become addicting, and she sure was right.
