Midwest Monkeys - Review

Just this past month my daughter began tasting small bits of the food that my husband and I eat. Naturally, she was curious and we were excited to give her pieces of "real" food that doesn't come pureed and strained. I knew enough to cut food into pieces for her, but just how large a piece can her eight or so teeth handle? I had no idea. And to be quite honest with you it hadn't even occured to me to look it up until I read about Midwest Monkeys and their Choking Prevention plates.

Safe Sizer™ plates were invented by husband-and-wife team David and Susan Zak. Their concern over their first born's safety prompted them to research one of the most fatal yet also preventable hazards, choking. When they found that the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends cutting up firm foods 1/2" in diameter for children ages 4 and under, they wanted to share this information with everyone they know.

Now with their Safe Sizer™ plates they're not only sharing knowledge, but an effective tool that I am sure has saved lives. As their website states:

The Safe Sizer™ is a toddler plate with a molded 1/2” innerdiameter ring that
parents, grandparents, and caregivers canuse as a guideline when cutting up food
for children underthe age of 4 years. The 1/2" is based on the
recommended size limit for firm foods from the American Academy of Pediatrics and is recognized by the USFDA. They are BPA free and exceedthe new, tougher US government standards for phthlates and lead.
It isn't enough to just know the 1/2" guideline. How many people do you know that go around measuring food before serving it to their kids? The Safe Sizer™ plates provide a visual aid built right into your child's plate, an object you're already using to serve meals.

Midwest Monkeys has Safe Sizer plates in the Nature series which is comprised of three plates with bright and vivid designs, and the Animal series which is a collection of another three plates in subdued colors and super cute designs.

Want to see these plates in action? Go here and check out their video on you tube.

BUY IT! Safe Sizer plates come in a pack of three for $19.99 and are sold online, as well is in many brick and mortar stores.
No compensation was received for this review. The sponsor sent me the product sample, and I offered my honest opinion.
