You might have seen the post from a few weeks ago when I attended Mrs. G's VIB event in Lawrenceville, NJ to hear Pediatrician Dr. Joanna Dolgoff, M.D. speak about her diet plan and book, Red Light, Green Light, Eat Right.
As you may have guessed, yellow light foods should be eaten in moderation, and green light foods can be enjoyed often in the right portions. Free fuel foods such as most fresh fruits and vegetables and most fat-free dairy products are unlimited. With Red Light, Green Light, Eat Right, you and your child will learn how to choose the right foods, plan healthy meals, get exercise and learn helpful tips and tricks for staying on plan.
I tend to get derailed when eating out, so I really love the section in this book that guides healthier options at popular restaurants. It is extremely helpful, and your kids can still eat at McDonalds and follow this plan if you do it right.
WIN IT! Two (2) lucky people will receive a copy of this great book!
To Enter: Visit Dr. Dolgoff's website or her blog and tell me something you learned that wasn't covered above.

ReplyDelete80% of overweight children (age 10-15) will go on to become obese adults by age 25.
ReplyDeleteHilLesha@gmail.com
I think it is interesting that Dr. Dolgoff has divided over one thousand foods with appropriate serving sizes. This way the parent or the adult doesn't have to count calories.

ReplyDeleteI learned off of the website that two of my children are overweight. I also learned that BMI is Body Mass Index (BMI) to determine if a child is overweight or obese. BMI is a measure of body weight relative to height. Very interesting. I guess we need to start making changes in my house.
