Holiday Gift Guide: Socks 4 Life as Stocking Stuffers (Review & $20 GC Giveaway)

socks4life

Great Idea for: Stocking Stuffers

We could always use more socks around here.  Whether one of a pair gets “lost” in the dryer or holes develop, there seems to be a constant shortage of the ones we want to wear.  I’m always digging in the drawer for my black socks, Emma likes her ankle socks, and daddy prefers crew socks.

People always joke about receiving socks and ties for Christmas, but I love the practical gifts and I see nothing wrong with giving socks as stocking stuffers.  Especially during the cold winter season!

Socks4Life sent us our stocking stuffers a little early.  Daddy received the American Made Men's Solid Black Crew Socks:

menssocks

Emma was sent a few pairs of the Dolce children’s low-cut ankle socks:kids

I received a few pairs of Women’s socks including a couple of great knee socks and these adorable slipper socks.  The other pairs we tried were basic socks, but these are quite different, and so soft.  They’d even make a great gift for Christmas when paired with some other foot pampering products.

slipper

Socks4Life has a 30-day money-back guarantee and also offers free shipping on orders over $50.  Get all of your stocking stuffers from one place – how easy is that?

Affordable, Trendy Handbags by Baghaus (Review)

logo_baghaus_uvp

Several years ago, I invested a few hundred dollars in a handbag that I still carry today.  The bag is a classic black leather with rather simple and straightforward styling.  It really is a great purse, and the fact that it has lasted for so long is pretty amazing, and I feel I’ve gotten my money’s worth .  The down side is that I’ve grown bored of it.  I’m tempted each season with the latest styles and trends, but I can’t afford to drop a few hundred dollars on a new purse every time a new trend makes an appearance in department stores.

The good news is, you don’t have to.  When there are great lookalikes at baghaus, who needs to break the bank on a trend that’s hot now, and not a few months from now?   you can treat yourself to the latest stylesIt’s a good thing You might not have a budget that will allow you to buy a new pricey bag to fit every season’s trends, but you can afford the lookalikes at baghaus.

sueI’ve recently become a little obsessed with a new basic, grey.  When I saw the Sue Sylvester Bag, most of all I loved how different it was from my regular bag.  It’s also a lot larger inside, large enough to use as a diaper bag when I don’t feel like lugging the big diaper bag around.  Plus, I look a lot more fashionable with this on my arm.

This handbag is made of a high quality vegan leather, which means it is faux leather.  But personally, I can’t tell the difference between this material and the highest grade (and expensive) butter-soft leather.  There are several interior pockets and one exterior pocket to keep me organized, and the zipper closure makes it easy to access my things while keeping them safe inside.

bahuasemontage

The details are are great too.  The bag features gold-toned hardware, and I love the decorative white stitching.  The handles is double-padded for a cool layered look while making it extra comfortable to carry on my shoulder.

Best of all, it’s only $29.97, a fraction of what you’d pay in a store for a trendy handbag!  Another great thing about baghaus is their 110% lowest price guarantee, so you know you will always get the best price.

I love this bag – and will definitely look to baghaus in the future for more great accessories.  Speaking of, you’ll also find wallets, phone cases, makeup bags and many other types of accessories there.

Winning Style: Kendra Scott Earrings Giveaway!

kslogo

nyla

Contest closed – congratulations, ruthhill74!

Coco Chanel once said, “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”  Kendra Scott began designing jewelry to help women with that second part – being fabulous.  She only started her company back in 2002, but it didn’t take long for her designs to earn accolades from the editors of In Style and O Magazine, among others.  You’ll also find her accessories at Lord & Taylor and Henri Bendel.  Needless to say, her jewelry is hotter than the warmest day in Austin Texas, where her company is based.

039Jewelry, in particular can transform your day from dull and boring to vibrant and fun.  That’s the way I feel when I wear the Nyla earrings by Kendra Scott.  I was sent a pair in cobalt blue, with bright and vivid marquis-cut stones set in 14K Gold plated over brass.  They are right in line with one of the hottest trends today: bold eye-catching earrings.

They’re less costume-y due to the use of high quality materials.  I know a few women that can only wear 14K gold earrings so this is a great way to keep your ears healthy while getting a great stylish look.  I can’t stop visiting the Kendra Scott website.  I don’t think there is one piece there that I don’t love.  This could be a minor problem!

It’s a good thing there is also a great sale section to stretch my dollars even further.  And if you sign up for Kendra’s email newsletter, you will receive a $20 off coupon!

Winning Style: DAV Equestrian Style Rain Boots Giveaway!

dav

Closed – Congrats to the winner, sweetsue!

What kind of kicks do you wear when it rains?  Usually I forget about trying to look good, and just wear a pair of old shoes that I don’t care about.  But if it happens to be a day when I can’t get away with dressing in yoga pants and sneakers – like when I have to work or attend a fancy event – I have very few options.  This is the reason why I’ve ruined countless pairs of shoes by walking in the rain and dashing through the sometimes unavoidable rain puddles.   It’s all downhill once the water gets inside your shoes.

um

Wouldn’t it be great if you could morph high fashion footwear with the rain boot?  Well you don’t have to, because däv has already done it.  The company is based in southern Calfornia, where the luxurious made-for-rain footwear is designed, produced and sold.  There are all kinds of styles offered; from flats to dress shoes boots.   It’s practical footwear in disguise.

eq-so900-3

I haven’t worn rain boots since I was a kid.  From what I remember, they looked a lot more like galoshes than fine footwear.  Perhaps that’s why I never wore them past grade three.  They certainly never alookednything even close to the däv equestrian boots I was sent.  I love the classic riding style of these boots, they’re fashionable while being waterproof.  They also feature a fleece lining to keep your legs and calves warm and dry.  This is excellent for rain on a cold fall or winter day.  They’re so warm, you could even make them work for snowy weather.

There is a stretch panel for a fit that is close to the leg, as well as a spur holder at the back.  Where’s my horse?  Seriously though, these boots are great because they don’t look like rain boots.  If I wore them on a sunny day, no one would even notice that they were any different.

davmontage

Personally, I found the stretch panel to be slightly tight on my calves.  Unfortunately, my legs are not small there.  I think if I give them time to break in, they’ll fit more comfortably.  Otherwise they feel great, even without wearing socks because of the comfy fleece lining.

Rain boots have certainly come a long way since my childhood.

GreenSmart Review & Messenger Bag Giveaway - ARV $90.00

Contest Closed – Congrats Jennifer M.!
Do you ever wonder what happens to all of those plastic bottles that your township recycles?  Just how do they get re-used, anyway?  You're about to find out!

GreenSmart is committed to making green products that are also good-looking and affordable too.  They make bags, totes and bottle cozies too.  Some of their products are made from 100% recycled plastics.  Believe it!

This is how it's done, in a nutshell. The bottles become ground up, washed to become fiber, spun into yarn and woven into our fabrics. The overall process also uses less energy than making polyester out of virgin chemicals. Amazing, right?

I'm in New York City today at the BlogHer conference, with my Puku Messenger bag in tow.  This is just one of the many beautiful products available at GreenSmart, and I think $89.99 is a great price point for such a stylish messenger bag.  I liked having the zipper at the top, which is much easier to use than the flap of a traditional messenger.  (But if you like that design, they have that too in the Baringo bag).  It has pockets gallore for my business cards, wallet, notebooks, and also includes a fully padded laptop bay which will hold my netbook as I walk from session to session.   Wearing this bag is more comfortable than any other bag I own, and it’s my favorite practical accessory.

In case you were wondering, the "Puku" is named after an endangered antelope.  GreenSmart donates 10% of their profits to helping create a greensmart planet, which is wonderful.

GIVEAWAY!
One VERY lucky reader will receive a Puku messenger from GreenSmart!

Belle Pearl ~ Beautiful Jewels (Review & Giveaway)

Contest Closed
A woman can bathe her body in diamonds but never look as classy as a woman wearing pearls.  The bonus is that they can also be very affordable.  And they go with everything.  That sexy little black dress? Check.  The collared shirt and a pair of jeans?  You bet.  I wore my Belle Pearl earrings to the supermarket just the other day, wearing a plain tee.  That might be a little extreme, but I couldn't help myself.

They came beautifully packaged earlier that day.  A light pink box with a brown bow tied around.  The box itself is magnetic.  I love great packaging!

And these are the beauties that lay inside.  I was very impressed with the overall presentation.

This particular pair is called the Madeline Earrings.  They are freshwater pearl studs on sterling silver posts dangling freshwater pearl drops.  The backs were a little loose so I did use the clear rubber posts that were included in the box to secure them tightly to my ears. I wouldn't want to lose these beauties.  The earrings are pretty and feminine without being too over-the-top.  I love them!  They only cost $36.00 too - what a bargain!

Belle Pearl has more than just pearls.  There are also many gorgeous gems and keepsakes available.  Children's jewelry, too!  The company is currently having an "Earring Extravaganza" sale with 10% savings.  The company is also offering a coupon code for my fabulous readers.  Use Penny10 for an additional 10% discount on anything in the store!

WIN IT! Enter to win the Madeline Earrings from Belle Pearl!

Mandatory Entry – Tell me another Belle Pearl product you love.

EXTRA ENTRIES, leave a comment for each entry:

Stay cool in shades from Sunglass Warehouse (Review & Giveaway)

sunglass~Contest Closed~
Sunglasses will always be my most favored accessory. Cool shades hide my tired eyes when there’s no time for concealer and mascara, all while shielding them from the bright sun. They do all this and make you look fabulous, too. Sunglasses are a prime example of the marriage between form and function.

With all of the above being true, I can understand why people feel the need to splurge on this accessory. Sunglasses do so much, so they’re worth it. But how do you choose the style that’s right for you? With the extraordinarily low prices at Sunglass Warehouse, you don’t have to. You can own one for every day of the week for the amount of money you’ll spend on one pair at a department store. Or, if you have a child like mine who loves to play with sunglasses, buy several of the same pair and have backups.

15038At Sunglass Warehouse, you’ll find hundreds of styles for men, women and children all under twenty dollars, most under fifteen. It was no easy task finding just one pair I liked, because there were so many great styles to choose from. I finally settled on the Oversized Style #15038. I know, the name isn’t so glamorous, but the glasses are! And they’re under $14.00.  While I’m not so sure the style suits me well, I really do love the oversized shades.

mesunglass The sunglasses are categorized by trend, gender, purpose, and even by their similarities to high-end name brands. There are polarized options and fit-over sunglasses that can be worn over eyeglasses. There is no need to sacrifice style when you’re on a budget. Customers also receive free shipping on orders of $25.00 or more.

Lady Vanderbilt Initial Pendant Necklace (Review & Giveaway)

ladyvanlogogif~Contest Closed~
Long before Carrie Bradshaw revived the look, I owned a golden nameplate necklace.  It was the quintessential accessory of the 80s, and anybody who was anybody had to have one.  But I don’t care what you’re up to in the city these days, that necklace is out-date-ed.  It’s time to melt down that god-awful thing and give that poor gold another chance.

missinitiald-thumb The best updated version of the nameplate necklace is the Initial Pendant made by Lady Vanderbilt.  Because not everybody needs to know your name, and it’s a much prettier way to wear your initial.  It can be your first initial, your last initial, or it can stand for something completely unrelated to your name.

The initial hangs from an 18" gold colored chain.  It is made if sterling silver vermeil and plated in 14-karat gold.   Along with your initial three shiny Swarovski crystals dangle beautifully.  It is a very feminine, pretty piece of jewelry.  The complete opposite of that old nameplate necklace.

028 From all of the pretty pendants I selected the Miss Initial “H” for Heather.  That’s my name, don’t wear it out. It’s my new favorite necklace, and I’ve already worn it out!  It’s not loud and it’s delicate enough to be worn all day but also pretty at night with the ability of crystals to catch and reflect light.

GIVEAWAY! One lucky lady will win their choice from the entire Lady Vanderbilt collection!

Mandatory Entry – Visit Lady Vanderbilt and tell me what item you’d like to win.  This will be your prize if your name is drawn!

Skinny Affordable Style (Review)

skinny With the way the trends fluctuate from season to season, it doesn’t pay to spend a lot on accessories.  Especially with the currently style of stacking different pieces of jewelry; that can get expensive!  Skinny has an entire line of affordable jewelry to complete your ensemble for a night out, but you’ll still be able to pay for your own drinks.

ovalring I was the lucky recipient of the  Gold Oval Stackable Solitaire Ring with a pretty Swarovski Crystal in Caribbean Opal.  I just love that turquoise shade of blue shade, it exudes summer style. The smoothness of the gold metal makes it look more expensive than it’s $22.00 price tag.

The ring can be stacked with others, or worn all by itself.  It is also available in a silver-tone metal and other very pretty shades of Swarovski crystal.  The high style/low cost look has not gone unnoticed.  It has been featured in Lucky and In-Style magazines.

011 As far as sizes, you really do need to be Skinny to wear this jewelry.  Ring sizes range from 6-8.  But if you’re a larger gal, don’t fret.  There are other great affordable jewelry items like necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

There are some really unusual pieces that you won’t see anywhere else.  Definitely worth checking out!

No compensation was received for this post, but I did receive the product discussed free of charge in order to facilitate my review.  All of the opinions above are 100% my own.

Alex and Ani {Review + Giveaway}

alexani

Closed
I love jewelry that is simple and elegant.  Boy does Alex and Ani deliver in that department.  Look and see what came in the mail for me!
007
I think the packaging says it well; a gorgeous, classic piece of jewelry lay inside this box waiting for one lucky lady to open it.

Alex and Ani has a wonderful collection of jewelry made from recycled materials within the United States.  This is a company with a conscience.  What could be better than supporting an eco-friendly cause all while looking great?

The bangle I received is so new, it’s not even available for sale yet.  I am feeling mighty special right about now, in a good way.  The new line has been designed with moms in mind, and do not have tags or charms that could become a choking hazard for children.
  001
Made of Russian gold, this is the peace charm bracelet.  It’s not really a charm, but more of a bead built right into the bangle.  This bracelet is completely adjustable – no struggling getting this one over your wrist.  It’s probably not the design I’d choose, but who doesn’t like peace?
Alex and Ani has much more than beautiful bangles.  There are also necklaces and earrings, even bridal jewelry, and everything is well-priced.
